A new 3D zinc (II)-coordination polymer: treatment activity on lymphoma combined with doxorubicin via regulating apoptotic genes expression

Abstract

A new zinc (II) coordination polymer (CP) with the chemical formula of [Zn3(L)2(mtba)2]n (1) (L = 1,4-bis(benzimidazol-1-yl)-2-butene, H3mtb= 5-methoxybenzene-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid) was hydrothermally synthesized by reaction of ZnSO· 7H2O with the 1,2,3-benzenetricarboxylic acid in the presence of the 1,4-bis(benzimidazol-1-yl)-2-butene ligand. Its anti-cancer activity on the lymphoma, bombinated with anthracyclines, doxorubicin was evaluated in this research. First, the cell apoptosis detection kit was used to detect the percentages of the apoptotic lymphoma cells after compound treatment. Next, the real-time RT-PCR was performed for the evaluation of the p53 and bcl-2 genes relative expression in the lymphoma cells. Results from molecular docking simulation have shown that the biological activity are directly related to the carbonyl functional group.
