Stock solutions of mononuclear M1(0) (M=Pt, Au) atoms are prepared by reducing corresponding metal chloride precursors with ethanol in a low boiling point glycol ether solvent. Importantly, the solvent also functions as ligand protecting the M1(0) atoms from aggregation. The stock solutions provide pre‐reduced M1(0) atoms for material fabrication by evaporative removal of the solvent and the weak ligands. This work demonstrates an application of the stock solutions for the preparation of atomically dispersed Pt1(0) and Au1(0) on a metal oxide substrate surface.
