One-pot sonochemical synthesis of marigold flower-like structured ruthenium doped bismuth sulfide for the highly sensitive detection of antipsychotic drug thioridazine in the human serum sample

We demonstrate the synthesis and application of marigold flower-like structured ruthenium doped bismuth sulfide (Ru-Bi2S3). The Ru-Bi2S3 was synthesized by a simple one-pot sonochemical technique at different experimental conditions. The structural behavior, morphology, and catalytic activity of the resultant material were probed via suitable spectrophotometry and voltammetric methods. The fabricated Ru-Bi2S3 modified electrode applied to investigate the electrochemical oxidation of thioridazine (TZ). Captivatingly, the modified electrode has dynamic linear ranges from 0.005 to 7.415 µM and 7.415 to 1432 µM. Further, the lowest detection limit (0.001 µM) and higher sensitivity (8.639 µA µM−1 cm−2) was attained towards the electrochemical sensing of TZ. Besides, the practicability of the TZ sensor was evaluated in a human serum sample using the standard addition method.
