An ordered cobalt encapsulated N-codoped carbon nanotube array grown on carbon fiber cloth was developed as air electrode of flexible rechargeable Zn-air batteries. The free-standing and unique array architecture of the full-carbon-based electrode provides high electronic conductivity, free transportation of oxygen, and high geometric flexibility, while the N doping greatly improves the activity for oxygen electrocatalysis with remarkable bifunctionality. Quasi-solid-state Zn-air battery assembled with such electrode possesses superb performance, stability, and flexibility in the bending test.
