We review the recent advances in metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived carbon materials for energy storage applications. The outlines of compositions, structures, and synthesis methods of MOF-derived carbon materials are introduced, followed by examples of their applications in the energy storage systems, including rechargeable lithium/sodium-ion batteries, lithium-sulfur batteries, supercapacitors, and so forth. Finally, we put forward our perspectives on the future development of MOF-derived carbon materials.
