Synthesis of E-NiCo-LDH for Enhanced Nonenzymatic Detection of Hydrogen Peroxide

NiCo layered double hydroxide (NiCo-LDH) was explored as electrocatalyst for nonenzymatic detection of H 2 O 2 , in which NiCo-LDH with different morphologies were synthesized through a hydrothermal method, and then acid-etched NiCo-LDH (E-NiCo-LDH) was obtained via an acid-base reaction. The morphology, composition and structure were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Electrochemical measurements reveal that E-NiCo-LDH exhibits an excellent electrocatalytic activity toward H 2 O 2 oxidation and the sensor based on E-NiCo-LDH is able to detect H 2 O 2 in a linear range of 2.0 μ M to 1.1 mM with a high sensitivity of 728.6 μ A mM −1 cm −2 and a low detection limit of 0.2 μ M (S/N = 3). This indicated that E-NiCo-LDH is a promising material for electrochemical sensing of H 2 O 2 .
