Construction of two coordination polymers based on imidazolyl and aromatic dicarboxylic acid ligands: Structural diversity and anti-ovarian cancer activity study

Solvothermal reactions of 5-methylisophthalic acid (H2mipa) with 1,4-bis(imidazol-1ylmethyl)benzene (1,4-bib) or 1,3-bis(imidazol-1ylmethyl)benzene (1,3-bib) in the presence of Co(NO3)2·6H2O in a mixed solvent of H2O/DMF yielded two new coordination polymers, namely, [Co2(mipa)(1,4-bib)](H2O) (1)and [Co3(Hmipa)2(mipa)2(1,3-bib)](H2tba)(H2O)2 (2). These complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and X-ray single-crystal diffraction, which reveals that complex 1 is mutually interpenetrated each other to form 3D+3D⟶3D interpenetrated framework with crs/dia-e topology, and complex 2 is constructed from the trinuclear [Co3(COO)6] unit connected by tbip ligands to form 1D structures which were extended to form 2D structures by neutral ligands. Furthermore, the anti-ovarian cancer activity of the two coordination complexes has been evaluated via the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and western blot assay.
