Two new Bi(III) and Ce(III)-containing coordination complexes: Crystal structure and anticancer activity in neuroblastoma

Solvothermal reactions of 2,2-bipyridine (2,2-bpy) or 1,10-phenanthroline (1,10-phen) with Bi(NO3)3·5H2O or Ce(NO3)3·6H2O in the presence of different pH modulator afforded two new coordination complexes [Bi2(2,2-bpy)2(BA)6] (1, HBA = benzoic acid) and [Ce(1,10-phen)Cl2]Cl (2). The structures of the two complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectrum and X-ray crystal diffraction. Furthermore, the anticancer activity of the two synthesized complexes has been evaluated via the preformation of the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assays. And the relative expression of the inflammatory response genes p53, nf-κb, and tnf-α was detected by reverse transcriotion-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).
