WWW.TANDFONLINE.COM/VENV VOLUME 62 NUMBER 4 The higher education sector is working to prepare its graduates for the difficult transitions to sustainability that are now upon us. This activity reflects an expectation by the global community for substantial progress toward meeting the United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals by 2030. We find these higher education moves to be promising but far from achieving their aims, given the urgency and necessity of highly innovative approaches toward learning and acting for sustainability within a decade from now. The four contributions that compose this issue of Environment magazine explore what might be required by Tim O’Riordan, Garry Jacobs, Janani Ramanathan, and Olivia Bina Higher education has a key role in promoting learning for sustainable futures.
