Facile synthesis of Cs0.3WO3 nanofibers by hydrothermal method and their optical properties

Abstract One-dimensional (1D) Cs0.3WO3 nanofibers were controllably synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method employing different reducing agents such as ethanol, isopropanol, terpineol and 1-octadecene. The effects on the crystalline structure, size and morphology of the nanoparticles were thoroughly investigated by XRD and SEM analyses. XRD analysis shows that the different reducing agents have no significant effect on the crystal phase of the products. SEM results indicate that the 1D Cs0.3WO3 nanofibers synthesized by using 1-octadecene as a reducing agent possess uniform fiber-like morphology with smooth surface and the largest aspect ratio up to 132.3, average diameter and length of 65 nm and 8.6 μm, respectively. Moreover, all the samples exhibit a broad absorption spectrum from 780 nm to 20000 nm, and their optical properties are closely related to the aspect ratio of the samples. And the sample-1-OA with the largest aspect ratio shows excellent instantaneous photo-thermal conversion property resulting in an obvious temperature increases from 20 °C to 72.3 °C when it was irradiated by 50 W halogen lamp for 10 s.
