Analytical expressions for the magnetic field from axially-magnetized and conically-shaped permanent magnets

This article will present exact analytical expressions for the components of the magnetic field from an ideal and conically shaped permanent magnet that may be employed for parametric studies, optimization studies, as well as for design purposes. These types of magnets find applications in areas where the magnetic flux needs to be concentrated in a smaller region of space. If conically shaped permanent magnets are manufactured from the Neodymium material, for example, then strong magnetic fields are possible. This becomes relevant in applications such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), sensor technology, and magnetometers.
