Meanwhile, back on earth鈥 - News

THE WORLD'S attention turned to space missions in May. That's when two NASA astronauts were the first to be launched into space by an entity other than a nation-state. They're also the first to travel from the United States to the International Space Station (ISS) since 2011, when the space shuttle program ended. But while most of us weren't looking, the important work aboard the space station was continuing apace. Weeks before the SpaceX launch, U.S. astronaut Andrew Morgan, Russian cosmonaut Oleg Skripochka, and U.S. astronaut Jessica Meir-pictured here inside their Soyuz MS-5 landing capsule-returned to Earth after a few months-long ISS missions. The trio risked their lives traveling millions of miles while conducting off-planet experiments and space walks, only to touch down in April amid a global pandemic.
