Abstract

Hydroxyl-containing esters of bis(O-butyl xanthic acid) have been synthesized. The presence of the xanthate and hydroxyl groups at neighboring carbon atoms results in that upon thermal exposure the synthesized compounds undergo intramolecular cyclization to form a heterocyclic compound. The structures of the obtained O-butyl xanthic acid derivatives were established by IR and ¹H and ¹³C spectroscopy.
