Welcome to this special issue of the journal, focused on loss, grief and bereavement. We are pleased to share the co-editorial role with Ellen during a profoundly changing landscape of end-of -life and bereavement care. As this issue goes to press during the COVID19 pandemic, countless families have experienced the death of a family member from which they must be absent, funeral practices and memorial traditions have been upended, and social distancing has necessitated creative approaches to the provision of compassionate bereavement care.
