Interesterification of methyl stearate and soybean oil over potassium titanate

The effects of the calcination temperature applied to potassium titanates on their basic properties and catalytic activities for the interesterification of methyl stearate and soybean oil were assessed. Calcination at temperatures greater than 873 K was found to promote the migration of potassium from the bulk to the surface, increasing the number of strongly basic sites and enhancing the catalytic activity.
