Candida onychomycosis mostly involves fingernails. Yet, in contrast to dermatophytes, Candida isolation from dystrophic fingernails does not prove casualty, as sample contamination and non‐pathogenic Candida growth occur. Characterising treatment outcome of Candida‐positive dystrophic nails is crucial to avoid unnecessary treatment.
