With its rusty‐red breeding plumage complete, this red Knot (Calidris canutus) is ready for a migration from temperate intertidal wetlands to the High Arctic tundra breeding grounds. In fact, at this point the bird may feel nostalgic about its birth land, and motivated to undertake the long‐ and unpredictable journey ahead. Photograph taken in Dyrarflordur (Iceland) and reproduced with the permission of Jan van de Kam Wildlife Photography. Based on the Original Article Experimental tests of a seasonally changing visual preference for habitat in a long‐distance migratory shorebird by E.M.A. Kok, J.A. Hogan, and T. Piersma, https://doi.org/10.1111/eth.13036.
