Ratcheting behavior of crosslinked epoxy polymers was investigated by Maenghyo Cho and his team on page 1617, considering the effects of different molecular structures of curing agents (aromatic and aliphatic) by atomistic simulations. Various ratcheting strain evolutions, local stress accumulations, and stiffness variations were observed during the cyclic deformation depending on the type of curing agents. The article concludes irreversible dihedral angle transitions near the benzene ring of the curing agent were responsible for low ratcheting resistance and stiffness degradation.
