Abstract
The structure of dentin is characterized by the presence of microchannels—dentinal tubules (DTs) threading through the matrix composed of collagen fibris and hydroxyapatite nanocrystals. The influence of DTs on the resistance of dentin to cracking has been studied on samples prepared from human molar teeth. The samples were subjected to uniaxial compression until the onset of cracking and then studied by the method of synchrotron radiation microtomography. The obtained results allowed a model of mode II microcrack development in dentin to be formulated.中文翻译:
