Shining light on enzymes. We report the design and evaluation of two artificial organic photoredox cofactors. The ground‐ and excited‐state properties of the free and scaffold‐bound cofactors were measured, as the photophysical properties govern the photocatalytic activity. The engineered artificial enzymes were found to be active excited‐state oxidants, acting on a range of aryl sulfides.
