Abstract

The paper presents the results of long-term monitoring of the abundance and harmfulness of the sunn pest in commercial wheat crops in Rostov Province of Russia. During the study period, the pest was in a sustainable outbreak phase while the wheat varieties most commonly grown in the region were damaged by 20% and more. The level of damage to wheat grain was significantly and positively correlated with the sunn pest nymph abundance in the crops: r_x = 0.85; R² = 0.72.
