Abstract Densities and viscosities of ternary system (ethylcyclohexane + 1-butanol + ethyl octanoate) and three corresponding binary systems, (1-butanol + ethylcyclohexane), (1-butanol + ethyl octanoate), and (ethylcyclohexane + ethyl octanoate), were determined at 7 temperatures from 293.15 K to 323.15 K. For the ternary system and binary systems, the excess molar volumes (VmE) and viscosity deviations (Δη) of have been calculated. The VmE and Δη data were fitted to the Redlich − Kister equations. The VmE values for the investigated systems are all positive, and the Δη values are negative over the entire composition range. The density and viscosity data of blends and their corresponding excess properties or deviation may provide useful input data for thermodynamic or modelling studies.
