Analysis of E‐IDSs from Mycobacterium species has clarified their functions: Mv0992 and Mv1577 would be E‐C45 and E‐C20 synthases, respectively; Mv3536 (an E‐C10–20 synthase) released an E‐C10 intermediate during continuous condensation; Rv0562 and Rv2173 had similar functions to Mv0992 and Mv3536, respectively; and reduced allylic diphosphate could be used as a substrate for Z‐IDS (Mv3822).
