Wiley Open Science Badges
The Photogrammetric Record ( IF 2.1 ) Pub Date : 2020-03-29 , DOI: 10.1111/phor.5_12313

Starting in 2019 (volume 34), The Photogrammetric Record has allowed authors, if they wish, to participate in the Open Science Badges scheme. The Center for Open Science (COS), based in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, has initiated a mission to increase openness, integrity and reproducibility of research. Open Science badges are a means of acknowledging open science practices, signalling to readers that the content has been made available and certified in a persistent location.

image The Open Data badge is earned for making publicly available the digitally shareable data necessary to reproduce the reported results in an open‐access repository. The specifications of open data explicitly exclude data that compromises confidentiality or the anonymity of human participants. If access to such data is necessary to reproduce the report, then the work is not eligible for this badge.
image The Open Materials badge is earned by making publicly available the components of the research methodology needed to reproduce the reported procedure and analysis on an open‐access repository. Any components that cannot be digitally shared have to be described in sufficient detail for another researcher to understand how to reproduce the procedure and how the materials relate to the methodology.
image The Preregistered badge is earned for having a preregistered design and, where possible, the study materials themselves are included. This does not restrict authors from reporting results of additional analyses as notations can be added to the badge such as the Preregistered + Analysis Plan badge which, additionally, includes an analysis plan for the research and reporting results.
