Abstract

Pyrolytic chromium carbide coatings (PCCs) deposited on stainless steel from the vapor phase using metalorganic chromium-containing liquid Barkhos and then annealed at 700−1000°C are investigated using X-ray diffraction and metallographic analysis; the elemental composition is also established. The annealing of PCC samples is carried out in air and in vacuum at different temperatures: 700, 800, 900, and 1000°C. The possibility of using this PCC as a means for surface modification of steel products designed for use at temperatures up to 1000°C is demonstrated.
