Abstract

The interaction of acetate platinum blue [Pt(OАс)_2.25]_n with oxoacetate complex of Fe(III) or potassium hydroxoplatinate K₂[Pt(OH)₆] with Fe(II) acetate and acetic acid gives complex [PtFe(OAc)₄]₂O ⋅ 4CH₂Cl₂ (I) and an exchange of I with pivalic acid gives the complex [PtFe(Piv)₄Cl]₂ (II). Both were structurally characterized (CCDC nos. 1949448 and 1952998 correspondingly, deposit@ccdc.cam.ac.uk or http://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/data_request/cif). These compounds have the structure of “chinese lantern” and are potential precursors for bimetallic catalysts, for instance for fuel cells.
