It was found that TiC coating is more effective than TiN coating, and stabilizes the temperature distribution and structural heterogeneity of stresses in the surface layer of Si3N4 ceramics adjacent to the coating. It is recommended to apply TiC coating to Si3N4 ceramic end mills intended for milling spatially challenging surfaces of nickel alloy products.
