Fe 3 – δ O 4 Nanoparticles Synthesized in the Presence of Natural Polyelectrolytes

Abstract

Mössbauer absorption spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis were used to study Fe3 – δO4 nanoparticles formed in the presence of natural polyelectrolytes of two types: derivatives of humic materials and low polymer chitosan. By an example of samples synthesized using either the Massart method or by in situ oxidation of metal it was shown that polyelectrolytes differing in charge and hydrophility affect mainly the morphology of Fe3 – δO4 particles, whereas their composition and structure depend only slightly on the polyelectrolyte nature.
