The Front Cover shows how sulfite, a waste product from scrubbing industrial flue gases, can be used by modified sulfite oxidases as an electron donor in the reduction of oxygen to hydrogen peroxide. In their Communication, M. M. C. H. van Schie et al. demonstrate how this peroxide, in turn, can function as a substrate for various peroxygenases, performing an array of interesting oxyfunctionalisation reactions. Sulfite, however, is also able to react directly with the peroxide intermediate product, steering the reaction away from the desired products. By shifting to a slurry to slurry approach by using the poorly soluble calcium sulfite as the electron donor, the performance of the system was greatly improved and we were able to perform the reactions at semi‐preparative scale.
