To the Editor: We thank Gao et al. for their interest in our manuscript that examined associations of life-course socioeconomic status (SES) with hypertension among African Americans. After reading their article, we found their suggestions lacked consideration of the limitations of the data, while others were outside the scope of our manuscript.
