Abstract In this paper, we introduce Eulerian and even-face ribbon graph minors. These minors preserve Eulerian and even-face properties of ribbon graphs, respectively. We then characterize Eulerian, even-face, plane Eulerian and plane even-face ribbon graphs using these minors.
