I read with great interest the article by Andrade et al.1 assessing the impact of developmental enamel defects (DDE) on the quality of life (QoL) among 5-year-old children. The burden of dental defects is globally prevalent and in Europe it ranges between 6-38%.2 Enamel defects are a significant public health problem as they can cause pain and discomfort due to dentin hypersensitivity, and often manifest aesthetically unpleasant discolourations.3.
