This paper is a response to the comment by Lynn et al. (2020, https://doi.org/10.1029/2019JA027575) on the paper by Jiang, Yang, et al. (2019, https://doi.org/10.1029/2018JA026040). Although we disagree with Lynn et al. (2020), nevertheless, we do thank them for their comments, since they have given us the opportunity to revisit and clarify some points. In Jiang, Yang, et al. (2019, https://doi.org/10.1029/2018JA026040) and this reply, we found that the F2 layer stratification induced by gravity waves/TIDs can last for about 40 min. The shape of the F2 layer stratification is similar to the F3 layer referred to by Lynn et al. (2020). However, the evolution of the F2 layer stratification by Jiang, Yang, et al. (2019, https://doi.org/10.1029/2018JA026040) is different from the F3 layer referred to in the comment by Lynn et al. (2020).
