We appreciate the initiative by Oh (2020), who performed a replication study of our recent publication (Pignon et al., 2019), in which we compared the prevalence of psychotic symptoms among subjects with different types of psychiatric disorders, i.e. depression or bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders or no psychiatric disorder, as function of whether or not there was an underlying alcohol use disorder (AUD). Our results showed that AUD was associated with all psychotic symptoms in the samples of subjects with depression and anxiety disorders, but with only auditory hallucinations in the sample of subjects with bipolar disorder, and only with thought broadcasting in the sample of subjects with psychotic disorders.
