ABSTRACT This commentary provides a short reflection on the current status of discursive psychology in a fluctuating academic landscape. It focuses on three points: how discursive psychological research situates itself in relation to other research (both within and outside of psychology), how psychology itself can be respecified as a discipline (rather than only topic areas within psychology), and on the need for further development of methodological aspects and learning resources within discursive psychology. The piece concludes by noting the strengths of discursive psychology as a detailed analytical approach and of the benefits of talking to, and engaging with, other researchers.
