Numerical study of the greenhouse solar drying of olive mill wastewater under different conditions

Olive oil production is widespread throughout the Mediterranean region and in the Middle East. Over the last few years, Tunisia has become the world’s second-largest producer1 and exporter2,3 of olive oil after Spain. Thus, the olive oil industry plays a key factor in its economic, environment, and social life. However, olive oil extraction processes, either traditional press extraction or continuous three-phase decanter ones, generate a large quantity of an aqueous waste called “olive mill wastewater” (OMWW). This effluent includes used water in different stages of the oil extraction process, olive juice (or olive vegetation water), and small amounts of unrecoverable oil and fine olive pulp particles.
