Simulation of the Properties of an Antenna Array which is Optimal According to the Criterion of Minimum Standard Deviation in the Case of Mutual Signal and Interference Correlation

We present the results of numerical simulation and comparison of characteristics of optimal spatial selection of a signal and two correlated interferences in a linear equidistant antenna array that is optimal according to the criterion of minimum standard deviation. New properties of an optimal spatial filter are revealed, namely, an additional correlation component of the interference sum at the filter input and output, the character of the dependence of the filter efficiency on the scanning angle of the first interference and substantial differences of the forms of the efficiency curves for various correlation relationships between the signal and interference. The dynamics of variation in the signal-to-interference ratio at the output of an optimized antenna array as a function of the correlation-coefficient value is analyzed. The types of the directional-pattern distortions are shown. The parameters of the signal and interference environment leading to an inadmissible decrease in the spatial-filter efficiency are revealed.
