Space charge behavior in polymeric materials under temperature gradient

Previous works have shown that the accumulation of space charges in insulation systems of power equipment alters the operating electric field distributions, which in turn may accelerate material degradation and eventually yield premature failures. Moreover, as the injection and extraction of charges from electrodes and their migration are affected by temperature, it is, therefore, predicted that the space charge behavior under temperature gradient conditions will essentially differ from that under isothermal condition. It is, thus, crucial to increase our understanding of space charge behavior in polymeric materials of general use under such conditions and this article presents such attempts.
