Multi-physics coupled deposition of Ni-PTFE-SiC composite coating and investigation of its properties

Ni-PTFE-SiC composite coating was deposited by multi-physics coupled deposition in a Watt nickel plating bath with PTFE-SiC mixed particles. The microstructure and the nanoparticles distribution of the composite coatings were characterized on a field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy spectrometer (EDS), X ray diffraction (XRD). The adhesion strength between the coating and the substrate was measured by the scratch method. The corrosion resistance of the composite coating in the 3.5% NaCl solution was studied by the Tafel polarization method and the electrochemical impedance method. The results showed that multi-physics coupled deposition improved the uniformity of the nanoparticles distribution in the Ni-PTFE-SiC composite coating, which enhanced the preferred orientation (111) and the (220) crystal plane of the composite coating.
