A Novel Imposing Source Approach in the Implicit Hybridizable Discontinuous Galerkin Time-Domain Method for Electromagnetics

The source has a significant impact on the transient waveform produced by simulations. For exciting electromagnetic energy better, this letter presents a novel approach to impose a source in the implicit hybridizable Discontinuous Galerkin time-domain (imHDGTD) method. For the source terms (electric and magnetic currents), the implementation of imHDGTD is given in detail by adopting appropriate techniques. Compared with the explicit discontinuous Galerkin time-domain method, imHDGTD has a less number of degrees of freedom and the larger time step. Numerical results show its accuracy and efficient performance, which implies that the proposed method would be very useful for complex structures with different sources.
