Abstract—
The purpose of the study was to identify patterns of changes in the levels of antibodies (ABs) against nervous tissue regulatory proteins during the post-contact period in patients with varying degrees of neurointoxication from metallic mercury vapor. We studied dependent samples collected in a 5 year period from men with first, second or third degree chronic mercury intoxication (CMI). By repeated study, an increase in antibodies against DNA and MAG proteins was found in individuals with early manifestations of mercury neurointoxication (stage I). ABs against NF-200, GFAP, S-100, myelin basic protein (MBP), voltage-dependent Ca-channels (VDCC), β2-GP, Glu-R, DA-R, GABA-R, Ser-R, and Ch-R did not change in dynamics and remained elevated relative to the control values, which reflects changes in the nervous and immune systems and involvement of these proteins in regulatory processes. In patients with stage II–III CMI, during the post-contact period an increase in ABs against the NF-200 protein and decreases in ABs against S-100, MAG, and GFAP proteins were revealed, which may indicate their importance in the pathological process after the cessation of contact with the toxicant. In total, the data suggest that the most informative biomarkers of the severity of CMI are ABs against proteins S-100, GFAP, and MAG.中文翻译:
