To the Editor We read with great interest the article by Paulin et al,1 who examined the association between long-term ozone exposure and the respiratory health of smokers, finding that higher ozone exposure was significantly associated with lower lung function and more emphysema and air trapping. The findings of this article1 underscore the need for enhanced meteorological monitoring on ground ozone concentrations as well as the need for early detection and targeted intervention of respiratory diseases in vulnerable members of society to reduce the escalating burden of respiratory diseases worldwide. However, from the viewpoint of data interpretation and extrapolation, we have 2 concerns.
