Multicomponent Reaction of Pyridinium Salts, β‐Nitrostyrenes and Ammonium Acetate under the DBU/Acetic Acid System: Access to 2,4,6‐Triarylpyridine Derivatives

A four‐component reaction of pyridinium salts, substituted β‐nitrostyrenes and ammonium acetate as a nitrogen source using acetic acid as solvent was investigated to develop an efficient divergent route for the synthesis of 2,4,6‐trisubstituted pyridines. This efficient method provides fast access to a variety of structurally diverse pyridine derivatives. The structure of a typical product was confirmed by X‐ray crystallography.
