Luminescent MOFs are ideal tools for sensing applications owing to the ability to trap analytes. A series of seven novel polymeric compounds i.e. [Cd(1,4-BDC) (Pro) (H2O)]∞, [Cd(1,4-BDC) (L-Trp) (H2O)]∞, [Cd(1,4-BDC) (L-Ala) (H2O)]∞, [Cd(1,4-BDC) (L-Phe) (H2O)]∞, [Cd(1,4-BDC) (L-Val) (H2O)]∞, [Cd(1,4-BDC) (L-Leu) (H2O)]∞, [Cd(1,4-BDC) (L-Arg) (H2O)]∞ were synthesized from layered structure Cd-MOF using the technique of postsynthetic modification. The postsynthetic modification was performed on metal center through the utilization of pure l-amino acids Proline(Pro), Tryptophan(Trp), Alanine(Ala), Phenylalanine (Phe). Valine(Val), Leucine(Leu) and Arginine (Arg). The post synthetically modified compounds were characterized by FTIR, TGA, 1H NMR, Elemental analysis, PXRD and UV–visible spectroscopy. Luminescence properties were investigated in solid-state, which shows that all the novel compound has higher emission intensity as compared to parent MOF.
