Development of Molybdenum-Containing Facing Ceramic based on Low-Plastic Clay

Abatch composition was developed on the basis of low-plastic clay, which also contains 6% (by weight) boric acid and up to 10% molybdenum trioxide as fluxes promoting liquid-phase sintering. It was determined that the molybdenum trioxide also decreases the surface tension of the melt and increases the strength of the bond between crystalline and glassy phases in the interior of the ceramic. The combined effect of these additives on the structure formation, composition, and basic performance properties of the obtained ceramic was investigated. A molybdenum-containing ceramic meeting the regulatory requirements of articles for exterior facing of walls and plinths of buildings and structures was obtained.
