Effect of near-liquidus squeeze casting temperature on microstructure and mechanical property of AZ91D alloy differential support

Abstract The effect of near-liquidus squeeze casting temperature on microstructure and mechanical property of AZ91D alloy differential support was studied. By increasing the pouring temperature, the grain size of die casting AZ91D alloy differential support increased, the grain morphology changed from spherical equiaxed grain to equiaxed dendrite, and the β-Mg17Al12 phase changed from fine uniform distribution to large-area segregation. Furthermore, with the increase of pouring temperature, the tensile strength and elongation of the AZ91D alloy differential support both decreases.
