Assessment of Kerma coefficients for OSL dosimeters by analytical and Monte Carlo approaches

Abstract In optically stimulated luminescent dosimeters (OSLD), the intensity of luminescent is a function of the dose of radiation absorbed and then it may be utilized as the basis of a radiation dosimetry method. For photons in the energy range from 1 keV to 20 MeV, the Kerma coefficients for fifteen OSLD, air, and ICRU standard tissue were calculated respectively from the analytical method and Monte Carlo simulation (MCNPX code). The results of MCNPX are consistent within estimated uncertainties with values evaluated by analytical method. The Kerma ratios of the OSLD relative to tissue were also obtained. The BeO has the closer Kerma to the tissue and alkaline OSL materials have relatively more values so that in 50 keV these ratios reach about 100.
