Photocleavage Synthesis of Hydroxy Group‐Bearing Porous Coordination Polymers

Hydroxy groups (−OH) are versatile functional sites for porous coordination polymers (PCPs) and metal‐organic frameworks. However, because hydroxy groups are incompatible with the synthesis conditions of PCPs, the hydroxy group‐bearing PCP experiences synthesis problems. Herein, we report a photocleavage strategy to quantitatively synthesize non‐interpenetrated PCPs with open 1D channels and free functional sites. These hydroxy groups are aligned on a 6 Å channel surface and are fully available for covalent modification. This photocleavage strategy provides a PCP platform for versatile functionalization.
