The impressing current technique is widely used in corrosion related research with different current densities. However, the research on the effect of current density on corrosion characteristics is still limited. In the present research, five current densities were impressed to accelerate the reinforcement corrosion, and X-ray micro-computed tomography was employed to achieve non-destructive visual tracing of the entire process. The results indicate that under different current densities, the actual mass loss of the reinforcement did not always equal to the theoretical results calculated with Faraday’s Law. When altering the current densities, the corrosion uniformity changed and the development of the concrete cover cracking differed obviously.
