Panoramic Temperature, Pressure, and Shear Stress Sensors Based on Liquid Crystal Composites

Thermo- and mechano-optical characteristics are described for three types of composites based on liquid crystals and a luminophore in a polymer matrix. These composites are designed for the panoramic diagnostics of temperature, surface friction, and surface pressure. The studies are performed by optical spectroscopy, colorimetry, and thermometry. Examples of using these composites as sensors in an aerodynamic experiment are given.
